Acting

Acting was the one thing that saved me from hiding in a shell of shyness. It was my Grandmother who noticed that I was in line to win the Introvert of the Year award and suggested I joined the local drama society. On my first ever entrance, I was shaking so much, I dropped a tray and tripped over a table leg, causing most of the audience to attempt to adopt me. The sheer terror of that moment, however, was offset by a thrilling energy that ripped through my body and banished my nerves to a chorus role. A few years later, I quit my ‘job for life’ and went to drama school, I’ve been lucky enough to work for some extraordinary people in theatre and TV and play some marvellous roles: from Chris in Jack Shepherd’s acclaimed Half Moon to Judge Angel in The Crown. After an eight-year sabbatical, I returned to acting in 2019 (perfectly in time for Covid) and have continued to love being back in this adorable frenzy of a profession, pretending to be other people and ‘shouting in the evenings’. A huge thank you to everyone who has employed me, or who may do so in the future.
